Goofy is one of the animated cartoon characters from Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse universe. He is an anthropomorphic dog and is one of the best friends Mickey Mouse. In the cartoon shorts which are created in the 1930s, the concept of the original name was "Dippy Dawg", later in the cartoon shorts during the 1950s his name is given as "George Geef" or "G.G. Geef". This implying that "Goofy" is a nickname. Along with the predictably awkward, Goofy is often shown as having little to no intelligence. But this interpretation is not always certain, sometimes Goofy is shown as intuitive and intelligent, albeit in a unique way, eccentric.
